ELE Engineer

About the role

An established main contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the planning, coordination, execution, testing and commissioning of electrical works for building and construction projects in Hong Kong. The role requires strong site coordination skills, solid technical knowledge, and the ability to work closely with project teams, consultants, subcontractors and statutory parties to deliver works safely, on time and to the required quality standard.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate electrical installations for construction projects from design review through site execution, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Review drawings, specifications, method statements, shop drawings and material submissions to ensure compliance with contract requirements and project standards.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, building services teams, subcontractors, suppliers and site staff to resolve technical and interface issues.
• Monitor site progress, workmanship, material usage and installation quality to ensure works are delivered according to programme and approved drawings.
• Prepare and update work schedules, short-term look-ahead plans, progress reports, inspection records and testing & commissioning documentation.
• Support procurement activities, including technical evaluation of materials, equipment and subcontractor submissions.
• Attend site meetings, coordination meetings and inspections with clients, consultants and relevant authorities.
• Identify design clashes, construction risks and site constraints, and propose practical engineering solutions.
• Ensure all electrical works are carried out in compliance with statutory requirements, safety regulations, contract specifications and company procedures.
• Assist project management in cost control, variation assessment, claim support and final account related matters where required.

What We're Looking For

• Degree or Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering works for building, E&M or construction projects, preferably gained with main contractors.
• Proven experience in site coordination, testing and commissioning, and project delivery for large-scale building projects.
• Good understanding of Hong Kong construction practices, statutory requirements and relevant codes of practice.
• Able to interpret technical drawings, specifications and construction details independently.
• Strong coordination, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Self-motivated, organized and able to work under pressure to meet project deadlines.
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
• Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD; knowledge of BIM coordination is an advantage.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience working on residential, commercial, institutional or mixed-use developments.
• Familiar with site safety, quality control procedures and authority submission processes.
• Practical, proactive and capable of driving subcontractors and site teams to achieve project targets.
