Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly competent Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Project Engineer with proven experience in the Oil and Gas industry. The ideal candidate must have strong technical expertise in electrical and instrumentation engineering design, project execution, and commissioning, with the ability to read, interpret, and review complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.

The successful candidate must have hands on experience working on Oil and Gas projects, with the ability to coordinate electrical and instrumentation activities from engineering design through installation, testing, commissioning, and project handover.

Relevant Oil and Gas industry experience is mandatory. Candidates without demonstrable experience on Oil and Gas projects will not be considered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering

• Develop, review, and validate electrical and instrumentation engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Read, interpret, and review electrical schematics, single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable routing drawings, P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, hook up drawings, and control system architecture.
• Prepare and review cable schedules, instrument indexes, material take offs (MTOs), equipment datasheets, and technical specifications.
• Provide technical solutions to electrical and instrumentation design challenges in line with project requirements and applicable engineering standards.
• Coordinate the integration of electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation systems.

2. Oil and Gas Project Execution

• Coordinate E&I engineering activities throughout project planning, design, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Ensure all electrical and instrumentation deliverables meet approved project specifications, schedules, budgets, and quality requirements.
• Conduct site inspections and supervise E&I installation activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings and engineering standards.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, vendors, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to resolve technical issues.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and recommend corrective actions to support timely delivery.

3. Installation, Testing and Commissioning

• Coordinate and support the installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation equipment.
• Verify instrument calibration, cable termination, continuity testing, loop checking, and functional testing.
• Support the testing and commissioning of control panels, electrical distribution systems, field instruments, and automation systems.
• Identify installation defects, troubleshoot technical faults, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), pre commissioning, commissioning, and project handover activities.

4. Technical Documentation and Compliance

• Maintain accurate engineering records, inspection reports, test results, and project documentation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable IEC, ISA, IEEE, NEC, API, and other relevant industry standards, as applicable to the project.
• Support technical reviews, risk assessments, HAZOP activities, and design verification exercises where required.
• Ensure adherence to approved Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in E&I project engineering.
• Mandatory experience working on actual Oil and Gas projects, preferably within upstream, midstream, downstream, or EPC environments.
• Strong expertise in electrical and instrumentation engineering design, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Demonstrable ability to read, interpret, and review complex engineering drawings independently.
• Practical knowledge of industrial instrumentation, process control systems, electrical distribution, control panels, and automation systems.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, and vendors.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of relevant electrical or instrumentation design software is an advantage.
• Good understanding of project schedules, technical specifications, procurement documentation, and project close out requirements.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, reporting, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively on site and in office based engineering environments.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS

• COREN registration or eligibility is an advantage.
• PMP certification is an added advantage.
• Relevant HSE and technical certifications are desirable.

Pay: ₦600,000.00 - ₦700,000.00 per month
