What they need
Electrical Application Engineer – Substation / E-House
Position Overview
CSI is seeking an experienced Electrical Application Engineer to support the execution of electrical power distribution projects, with a focus on Substation and E-House applications.
This role combines electrical engineering expertise, equipment application and selection, technical project support, and direct coordination with customers, vendors, contractors, and field personnel. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution equipment, the ability to interpret customer specifications and electrical drawings, and experience translating project requirements into practical, code-compliant (IEEE, ANSI) technical solutions.
The Electrical Application Engineer will support projects throughout the project lifecycle, from reviewing customer specifications, design review, proposal development, and supporting equipment selection through procurement support, installation, testing, commissioning, and field verification.
Who We Are
At CSI Engineering, we are more than an MEP engineering and commissioning team. We are problem solvers who help owners and project teams deliver facilities that work the way they were intended. From design reviews to field verification and turnover, our focus is practical, code compliant, and built around real world constructability and operations.
We support our clients by strengthening project delivery through MEP quality control, clear documentation, and tight coordination with architects, contractors, and vendors. Our teams work hands on across design and construction to reduce risk, close gaps early, and protect schedule and budget while improving system performance.
Core Responsibilities
- Review customer specifications, single-line and three-line diagrams, equipment requirements, engineering drawings, submittals, and vendor documentation to define project scope, verify accuracy and completeness, assess constructability, and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Interpret and mark up electrical diagrams, schematics, wiring and control drawings, equipment layouts, and related technical documentation.
- Provide technical support for proposals, quotations, equipment selection, estimating, and project execution, including preparation and review of submittals, equipment data, clarifications, and project correspondence.
- Specify, size, and apply electrical equipment for Substation and E-House applications, including switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), switchboards, transformers, circuit breakers, protective devices, bus systems, current transformers (CTs), potential transformers (PTs), controls, and related electrical components.
- Translate customer requirements, technical specifications, and project documentation into clear electrical equipment requirements and engineering deliverables.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between customer specifications, project drawings, applicable codes and standards, and equipment designs.
- Support electrical equipment retrofit, upgrade, modification, modernization, and replacement projects.
- Coordinate directly with customers, vendors, contractors, project teams, and field personnel to address technical questions and resolve application-related issues.
- Provide technical support for equipment testing, inspections, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, field verification, and site visit activities as required.
- Ensure proposed technical solutions comply with applicable electrical codes (IEEE and ANSI), industry standards, customer specifications, and project requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, estimating, project management, operational functions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, vendor coordination meetings, and project discussions as required.
