Automation Electrical Engineer

Position Overview

The Automation Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining electrical and automation systems for industrial and commercial projects. The role involves electrical system design, control panel engineering, PLC/SCADA integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and providing technical support to clients. The engineer will work closely with project teams to deliver integrated automation solutions that comply with safety, quality, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Design & Engineering

• Design electrical systems, power distribution, and control circuits for automation projects.
• Prepare electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Perform electrical load calculations, cable sizing, and protection coordination studies.
• Design and review control panels, MCCs, VFD systems, and instrumentation layouts.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes and standards.

Automation & Control Systems

• Develop and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications.
• Configure industrial communication networks and protocols.
• Integrate automation systems with electrical equipment, instrumentation, and third-party systems.
• Assist in implementing Industry 4.0 and digitalization solutions where applicable.

Project Implementation & Commissioning

• Supervise panel fabrication, installation, and field wiring activities.
• Conduct Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
• Perform startup, commissioning, and validation of automation and electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues during project execution and after deployment.

Site Support & Maintenance

• Provide technical support and maintenance services to clients.
• Perform system audits, upgrades, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Investigate electrical failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure minimal downtime and optimized equipment performance.

Documentation & Compliance

• Prepare engineering documents, technical reports, test procedures, and operating manuals.
• Maintain project documentation and revision control.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and company quality procedures.

Customer and Team Coordination

• Coordinate with project managers, clients, contractors, and suppliers.
• Participate in technical meetings and project reviews.
• Provide customer training on operation and maintenance of installed systems.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Registered Electrical Engineer (REE) preferred.

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering, industrial automation, or systems integration.
• Experience in manufacturing, process industries, utilities, building automation, or engineering services is an advantage.
• Experience handling end-to-end project implementation and commissioning is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Electrical system design and calculations.
• PLC Programming
• HMI and SCADA development.
• Control panel design and electrical drafting.
• Motor Control Centers (MCC), Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), and power systems.
• Instrumentation and process control systems.
• Industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, BACnet).
• AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent software.
• Knowledge of Philippine Electrical Code (PEC), IEC, and relevant standards.

Working Conditions

• Office-based design work with frequent site visits.
• Travel to customer facilities for commissioning and troubleshooting.
