What they need

Why this role matters

As our Electrical Commissioning & Test Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring that Dumarey Green Power's energy-storage systems are built, tested and commissioned to the highest standards of performance, reliability and safety.

Our products combine batteries, flywheels, power electronics and sophisticated control systems. They operate in demanding real-world environments where reliability matters and where customers depend on our technology to keep their operations running.

You will be a hands-on engineer, working closely with our production team to commission new battery energy-storage systems, diagnose electrical faults and resolve technical problems before our products leave the factory.

You will also support our After Sales team in diagnosing and resolving issues with systems already operating at customer sites, both remotely and through occasional site visits.

Working closely with our Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will help bridge the gap between Engineering and Operations, ensuring that our products are not only well designed but also practical to manufacture, commission and maintain.

As our production volumes increase, you will help us develop more efficient, repeatable testing and commissioning processes, reducing rework and improving product quality.

Ultimately, your work will help ensure that our customers receive reliable energy-storage technology that reduces fuel consumption, emissions and wasted energy.

What you will be doing Battery System Commissioning & Testing

· Carry out electrical commissioning and functional testing of battery energy-storage systems during production.

· Perform electrical inspections, pre-commissioning checks and verification of wiring, components and electrical connections.

· Commission and test battery management systems (BMS), inverters, power electronics and associated control systems.

· Carry out electrical measurements and functional tests in accordance with approved procedures.

· Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to ensure products meet specifications and are ready for delivery.

· Identify and resolve commissioning issues, working closely with Production, Controls and Engineering colleagues.

· Record test results, document findings and ensure that commissioning records are accurate and complete.

Electrical Fault Finding & Production Support

  • Diagnose and resolve electrical faults arising during production, testing and commissioning.
  • Investigate problems involving high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems, wiring, sensors, communication networks and control equipment.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation to identify faults.
  • Use appropriate electrical test and diagnostic equipment to investigate and resolve technical issues.
  • Support production technicians with electrical assembly, troubleshooting and technical questions.
  • Identify recurring faults and work with Engineering and Production to establish root causes and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Escalate design-related issues to the Senior Electrical Design Engineer and support the development of appropriate solutions.

Field Support & Customer Troubleshooting

  • Support our After Sales team in diagnosing electrical problems with battery systems operating at customer sites.
  • Provide remote technical assistance to Field Service Engineers and customers.
  • Attend customer sites when required to investigate faults, carry out repairs or support commissioning activities.
  • Analyse system data, fault logs and diagnostic information to identify potential causes of failures.
  • Work with Engineering and After Sales colleagues to develop and implement effective solutions.
  • Document field issues and feed lessons learned back into Engineering and Production to improve product reliability.

Test Process Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Help develop and improve standardised commissioning and testing procedures for our energy-storage products.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce commissioning time, simplify testing and improve first-time-pass rates.
  • Support the development of test equipment, diagnostic tools and automated testing where appropriate.
  • Work with Engineering to ensure new product designs are practical to test, commission and maintain.
  • Contribute to root-cause investigations and corrective actions to prevent recurring production and field failures.
  • Help improve technical documentation, work instructions and troubleshooting guides.
  • Support the introduction of new products into production.

Electrical Safety & Quality

  • Carry out all electrical work in accordance with appropriate safety procedures, risk assessments and relevant standards.
  • Follow safe working practices for high-voltage DC and AC electrical systems, including isolation and verification before work.
  • Ensure that electrical testing and commissioning activities are properly documented and traceable.
  • Identify electrical safety concerns and escalate them appropriately.
  • Support Engineering and Quality colleagues in maintaining high standards of product safety and reliability.

What we are looking for

You are a practical, technically capable electrical engineer who enjoys working hands-on with complex electrical systems.

You enjoy solving problems, understanding how things work and getting equipment operating reliably. You are equally comfortable working independently on a technical problem and collaborating with colleagues across Engineering and Production.

You will be:

  • Hands-on and practical: happiest working with real equipment, diagnosing problems and finding solutions.
  • Technically curious: interested in understanding how electrical systems work and why faults occur.
  • Methodical: able to troubleshoot systematically rather than relying on trial and error.
  • Safety-conscious: understands the importance of safe working practices around high-voltage electrical systems.
  • Proactive: willing to take ownership of problems and see them through to resolution.
  • Collaborative: able to work effectively with production technicians, design engineers, controls specialists and field service colleagues.
  • Improvement-focused: interested not only in fixing today's problems but also in preventing them from happening again.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Practical experience in electrical testing, commissioning, maintenance or fault finding within an industrial or engineering environment.
  • Good understanding of three-phase AC and DC electrical systems.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Experience diagnosing electrical faults in equipment incorporating control circuits, sensors, relays, contactors or power electronics.
  • Good understanding of electrical safety procedures and safe isolation practices.
  • Relevant electrical engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working with battery energy-storage systems (BESS).
  • Experience with high-voltage DC systems, potentially up to 1000VDC.
  • Familiarity with battery management systems (BMS), inverters and power conversion equipment.
  • Experience with PLCs, ECUs or industrial control systems.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN bus and Modbus.
  • Experience commissioning electrical equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) or Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Experience with root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Experience developing test procedures or commissioning documentation.
  • Experience providing technical support to field service teams or customers.

Not sure you meet every requirement?

We know that great engineers don't always tick every box. If this role interests you and you believe your experience could transfer well, we encourage you to apply.

We are particularly interested in candidates with strong practical electrical skills, a systematic approach to fault finding and a willingness to learn.

We can provide product-specific training to someone with the right electrical engineering foundations and practical attitude.

What You Will Get

  • The opportunity to work hands-on with innovative battery and flywheel energy-storage technology.
  • A varied role combining commissioning, troubleshooting, production support and technical problem-solving.
  • The opportunity to influence how our products are tested, manufactured and improved.
  • Close collaboration with experienced engineers and opportunities to develop your technical skills.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Pension contribution of 8% of salary.
  • Private healthcare, including dental and optical cover.
  • 25 days' holiday, plus bank holidays.
  • On-site parking.
  • Flexibility and family-friendly policies.
  • The opportunity to do something practical about rising temperatures.
