The Opportunity

I’m working with a leading commissioning business that is looking to add an experienced Electrical Commissioning Specialist to their team in Irving, TX.

This is a hands-on commissioning position covering the full project lifecycle, from design review and commissioning planning through testing, issue resolution and final handover.

You’ll work closely with owners, contractors, design teams and controls specialists to make sure electrical and building systems perform as intended and meet the required project standards.

What You'll Be Doing

• Support commissioning projects from early design through to final turnover.
• Review designs, specifications and commissioning requirements to identify potential issues early.
• Develop commissioning plans, checklists, testing documentation and system verification procedures.
• Develop and execute Functional Performance Tests (FPTs/FTPs).
• Attend sites to witness equipment start-up, testing and system performance.
• Identify deficiencies, document issues and manage them through to resolution.
• Re-test systems where required and verify that corrective actions have been completed.
• Produce clear commissioning reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
• Coordinate testing activities with contractors, engineers, controls vendors and the client.
• Attend and lead commissioning meetings and help coordinate testing schedules.
• Keep project leadership informed of any technical issues, delays, scope changes or potential risks.
• Monitor your assigned project scope and hours, flagging any potential scope creep.
• Contribute to improving commissioning processes, procedures and technical standards.
• Support proposals and business development activities when required.

Ideally, you'll have:

• 3–8 years' experience in commissioning, electrical engineering, construction, building systems or facility operations.
• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline is preferred.
• Experience with building electrical systems and commissioning activities.
• Strong understanding of electrical distribution, controls/BAS and associated building systems.
• The ability to troubleshoot technical issues and identify root causes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience producing technical commissioning documentation and reports.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects or priorities.
• The confidence to work independently while also collaborating with wider project teams.

Relevant industry credentials are highly valued, including:

• CCP
• CxA
• BCxP
• PE / EIT
• LEED AP or similar

You'll need to be able to understand the technical detail, spot problems in the field and communicate solutions clearly — while keeping the wider project schedule and objectives in mind.
