Electrical Controls Engineer

F.W. Webb, Northeast’s largest wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating, HVAC and industrial supplies is seeking a full-time Electrical Engineer for its Winslow, ME location.

Responsibilities:

• Able to program various electrical components such as variable-speed drives, smart relays, process controllers and displays, pressure and temperature transmitters, and small PLCs.
• Able to learn FW Webb’s in-house computer system to find/order materials.
• Able to design power and control circuits per National Electric Code including hazardous area requirements. Knowledge of UL standards a plus.
• Able to design control panels with ease-of-construction and maintenance in mind.
• Design using AutoCAD for shop drawings. Use of other software packages like SolidWorks a plus.
• Able to lead/direct shop technicians with project construction. Occasional problem-solving situations during construction and start-ups.
• Work within a team engineers and support people to complete projects.
• Work with consulting engineers to order materials and construct substation relay panels.
• Able to find drawings and instruction manuals needed from sources such as vendor websites.
• Willing to go to job sites for scope discovery and start-ups.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of control systems with motors, drives, valves, and instrumentation such as control valves, flow meters, pressure and temperature sensors. Able to work with chemical and gas sensors a plus.
• Knowledge of power systems with substations, generators, transformers, protective relays, switchgear, transmission lines at various high voltage levels. Experience with steam turbines and other steam controls a plus
• Working knowledge of Excel, word, internet, e-mail and web browsers.
• Self-manage/self-motivate to handle multiple competing projects while producing quality results within specific time constraints.
• Be a strategic thinker and doer.
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
