The ideal candidate will develop PLC and HMI applications, create electrical schematics, lead factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT), and integrate robotics and motion control systems to deliver reliable, safe, and maintainable automated solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and document PLC control systems and HMI interfaces for industrial machinery and production lines.
  • Program and commission PLCs with a focus on Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix/CompactLogix), Siemens (S7/TIA Portal), and Omron platforms.
  • Develop and validate electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bill of materials for control panels and enclosures.
  • Integrate and program robotic systems (ABB, Fanuc and other robot controllers), including I/O, safety circuits, and communication with PLC/HMI systems.
  • Lead and execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT); create test plans, perform tests, document results, and resolve issues.
  • Troubleshoot and support electrical and control systems on-site and remotely during installation and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical, safety and industry standards (NFPA 70E, IEC, machine safety), and implement control system best practices for reliability and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, process, and project engineering teams to define control requirements, timelines and cost-effective solutions.
  • Optimize system performance through commissioning tuning, PLC/HMI code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical support, training, and documentation (operation manuals, wiring guides, PLC/HMI source code) to customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, programming, and commissioning industrial control systems; experience may be higher for senior roles.
  • Proven programming experience with PLC platforms, specifically Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix/CompactLogix), Siemens S7/TIA Portal, and Omron.
  • Experience developing HMIs using platform tools (FactoryTalk, WinCC, CX-Designer or similar).
  • Practical experience integrating and commissioning industrial robots, preferably ABB and Fanuc.
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, panel design, wiring practices, and power distribution for control systems.
  • Experience leading and executing FAT and SAT procedures and producing test plans and validation documentation.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, Modbus, EtherCAT) and fieldbus technologies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and control issues in the field; strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and interact with customers on technical matters.
  • Preferred: certifications in PLC programming, robotics, or electrical safety (e.g., NFPA 70E, ISA) and knowledge of motion control, servo systems, and VFDs.
