Electrical Design Engineer

We are looking for a creative and experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Dubai. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for design, coordination, review, and technical development of electrical systems for high-rise tower, lagoon, amenities, and associated infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, authority requirements, and industry standards.

Job Description:

· Develop, review, and coordinate electrical designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, schematics, load schedules, and technical reports for tower, lagoon, amenities, and associated facilities.

· Design and coordinate LV/MV power distribution systems, transformers, generators, substations, switchgear, distribution boards, cable systems, and electrical equipment.

· Prepare and review load calculations, voltage-drop calculations, short-circuit calculations, cable sizing, equipment sizing, and electrical demand calculations.

· Design and coordinate lighting, emergency lighting, external lighting, landscape lighting, and lighting control systems.

· Design and coordinate earthing, bonding, lightning protection, surge protection, and electrical safety systems.

· Coordinate electrical requirements for HVAC equipment, pumps, water treatment systems, lagoon systems, swimming pools, water features, and other MEP equipment.

· Coordinate electrical systems with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, civil, landscape, ELV, fire and specialist systems.

· Review and coordinate electrical plant rooms, substations, electrical shafts, risers, cable routes, containment, equipment rooms, and service spaces.

· Develop and review BIM/Revit electrical models and coordinated drawings, participate in clash detection, and resolve multidisciplinary coordination issues.

· Review shop drawings, material submittals, technical proposals, equipment selections, calculations, and method statements submitted by contractors and specialist subcontractors.

· Coordinate with clients, consultants, authorities, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist vendors regarding electrical design and technical requirements.

· Support authority submissions and approvals and ensure compliance with relevant local regulations, utility requirements, project specifications, and international standards.

· Respond to RFIs, technical queries, design clarifications, and site-related electrical issues, providing practical and technically compliant solutions.

· Conduct design reviews to identify design discrepancies, constructability issues, coordination conflicts, and technical risks prior to and during construction.

· Provide technical support during construction through site inspections, design clarifications, coordination meetings, and resolution of installation issues.

· Review proposed design changes, variations, and value-engineering proposals and assess their technical and functional impact.

· Ensure proper design quality control, document control, revision management, and timely incorporation of design changes.

· Coordinate with the project team to ensure electrical design deliverables are accurate, complete, coordinated, and delivered within project schedules.

· Incorporate energy-efficient, sustainable, reliable, maintainable, and cost-effective electrical design solutions.

· Ensure all electrical designs comply with health, safety, fire, environmental, and statutory requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering

· Minimum 2 to 4 years of relevant electrical design experience, preferably in high-rise towers, residential, hospitality, mixed-use, or large-scale developments.

· Strong knowledge of applicable IEC/BS standards, local authority regulations, utility requirements, and project specifications.

· Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, and MS Office; knowledge of electrical design/calculation software is preferred.

· Experience in BIM coordination, clash detection, shop drawing review, and multidisciplinary coordination.

· Experience working with clients, consultants, contractors, authorities, subcontractors, and specialist vendors.

· Previous experience in the UAE/GCC region and knowledge of local authority requirements will be an advantage.
