Electrical Design Engineer / PV Design Engineer

About the role

• Calculation of load flow, short circuit and protection coordination

• Perform electrical calculations: DC/AC sizing, Cable sizing and voltage drop, Short-circuit and protection coordination, Earthing/grounding design

• Sizing of medium and low voltage equipment: transformers, emergency generator, UPS, capacitor bank, frequency inverters,, electric protection

• Generation of lists of loads, equipment and cables.

• Layout of electrical equipment and trays

• Development of single-line diagrams

• Prepare electrical layouts, single-line diagrams (SLD), wiring diagrams, and grounding layouts

• Grounding system sizing

• Familiar with Electrical Materials

• Calculation or simulation of electric arc according to IEEE Philippine Standard.

• Knowledge in electrical substations will be valued

• Design installation, operation and maintenance manuals for electrical systems and equipment.

• Define materials, costs and estimated time, design specifications and installation methods for electrical elements, equipment and systems.

• Supervise the installation and start-up of electrical networks, systems and equipment.

• Define electrical scope in projects and analysis of proposals for construction, expansion of systems and equipment.

• Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs, applying knowledge of electricity and materials.

• Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electrical components, soliciting observations from operators.

• Experienced in the same industrial field has an advantage.

• Assures product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities.

• Keeps equipment operational by following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures, requesting repair service.

• Ensures assigned project follows guidelines and meets design, quality, and compliance standards. Also, assist the Project Manager with proper documentation according to company requirements throughout the project. Additionally, undergo intensive training to become a future Project Manager.

• Experience with HVACR Electrical Design system design is an advantage.

• Select and specify electrical equipment (panels, breakers, cables)

• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, NEC, local grid codes, and safety standards

• Use software tools such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, ETAP, etc..

• Support permitting, approvals, and technical documentation

• Assist during construction, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting

• Familiarize with design of Solar System (on-grid, off-grid, hybrid) Complete system designs for PV projects including site plans, PV Layout and solar mounting drawing, Single Line Diagram, Rapid Shutdown Device and Stringing Plan, Cable Tray Layout, Grounding System Design, Inverter and Equipment Layout, Electrical Design and Calculations, Bill of Materials and Specification sheets.
