Electrical Design Engineer - Senior

Job Summary

Amteck is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our Engineering team in Lexington, Kentucky. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed Professional Engineer who wants to take a key role in the design and development of electrical power systems for construction projects across the country.

Our projects primarily include new manufacturing facilities, along with commercial and heavy industrial buildings. The ideal candidate has a strong background in electrical power distribution and new construction, understands construction practices, and can effectively collaborate with clients, contractors, estimators, and internal project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical power systems for new construction projects, including manufacturing, commercial, and industrial facilities.
• Collect, review, and organize bid documents and project information provided by General Contractors.
• Evaluate bid documents and determine effective design methods and strategies in collaboration with Engineering and Pre-Construction leadership.
• Perform preliminary electrical designs and support the development of project design solutions.
• Coordinate with design service providers and communicate project requirements and bid information.
• Provide the estimating team with bid breakdown requirements and other necessary technical information.
• Review quoted items for accuracy and alignment with project requirements.
• Organize and maintain project and bid documentation.
• Coordinate with the Pre-Construction Manager and other team members throughout the bidding process.
• Help identify and resolve customer needs, design challenges, and technical issues.
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and team members at all levels of the organization.
• Build strong working relationships and influence project outcomes both internally and externally.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Professional experience designing electrical power distribution systems and circuits for new construction.
• Strong knowledge of construction principles and practices.
• Ability to understand, interpret, and troubleshoot customer needs and technical problems.
• Strong communication, organizational, administrative, and computer skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
• Experience working with subcontractors and subcontract agreements.
• Ability to build trust and develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to travel approximately 10%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
• Experience with Revit.
• Experience designing electrical systems for manufacturing and industrial facilities.
