Electrical Design Intern

Mericle Construction, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Design Intern that will assist the Electrical Design team with the development, production, and maintenance of electrical construction documents and supporting materials required for project planning, permitting, and construction. This internship provides hands-on experience in electrical design, drafting, and coordination within a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing electrical drawings and designs for the layout of electrical systems.
• Support the creation of layouts, drawings, and designs using AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software.
• Help update, revise, and maintain electrical drawings and project documentation.
• Learn and apply drafting and design standards to ensure quality and consistency.
• Assist with preparing electrical and project documents, including lighting layouts and photometric studies.
• Assist with calculating electrical and lighting loads and preparing schedules under supervision.
• Support the development and maintenance of electrical base building documentation.
• Coordinate with team members from various construction disciplines to help identify and resolve drawing conflicts.
• Assist with incorporating field markups and "red-line" changes into as-built drawings.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Architectural Drafting, or a related field.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software preferred.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and construction drawings.
• Strong math, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to learn and gain hands-on field and design experience.
