Electrical Draftsman

An electrical drafter is responsible for creating detailed wiring and layout diagrams used in various electrical projects. These diagrams are essential for workers who install, repair, and maintain electrical systems in residential buildings. You will be responsible for understanding the specifications provided by an electrical engineer and translating them into detailed, accurate drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop wiring diagrams and layout plans
• Collaborate with the electrical team and engineers to understand the scope and requirements of each project
• Utilize software to create and modify designs
• Review and revise designs based on feedback and project requirements.
• Ensure all electrical plans adhere to local, state, and national codes and regulations
• Update and revise existing electrical drawings as needed
• Conduct site visits to gather data and verify measurements

Work Environment:

This role is primarily office-based and may require site visits.

Required skills:

• Proficiency in copper field software and electrical design tools
• Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards like the National Electrical Code (NEC)
• Previous work experience in electrical drafting or a related field
• Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to interpret technical documents, blueprints, and electrical codes
• Performing calculations to determine appropriate sizes and capacities of electrical components
• Preparing and revising drawings and documentation to reflect changes in design and customer requirements

Educational qualifications:

• A certificate in drafting or a related field, along with relevant experience in electrical drafting. It would be helpful to have field experience in electrical.
