JOB DESCRIPTION – ELECTRICAL DRAUGHTSMAN

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Electrical Draftsman to support the electrical design team in preparing and updating electrical layouts and technical drawings, preferably for interior fit-out or construction projects. The candidate will be responsible for drafting lighting, power, switch, socket, and electrical equipment layouts under the guidance of senior engineers and draftsmen. The role also involves updating drawings based on engineering inputs, coordinating electrical layouts with architectural and ceiling plans, maintaining drawing records, and assisting with shop drawings and as-built documentation to ensure accurate and timely submissions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Prepare electrical layouts for lighting, power points, switches, sockets, and electrical equipment based on engineering inputs.
• Assist in preparing cable tray layouts, cable routing drawings, and electrical containment layouts.
• Update electrical drawings based on engineer markups, consultant comments, and project revisions.
• Incorporate dimensions, electrical symbols, legends, annotations, and drawing references accurately.
• Coordinate electrical layouts with architectural plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior layouts, and other MEP drawings.
• Assist in identifying drawing discrepancies, space constraints, and basic coordination issues.
• Support senior draftsmen in preparing electrical working drawings, shop drawings, and installation details.
• Assist in preparing as-built drawings based on approved site changes and installation information.
• Maintain organized drawing files, revision records, and technical documentation.
• Follow project drafting standards, drawing conventions, and documentation requirements.
• Coordinate with senior draftsmen and engineers to clarify drawing requirements and resolve basic drafting issues.
• Check dimensions, symbols, equipment locations, and annotations before submitting drawings for review.
• Ensure assigned drawings and revisions are completed within the specified timelines.
• Support the electrical design team in preparing drawings for consultant review, approval, and site execution.

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

• Basic proficiency in AutoCAD for preparing and modifying electrical drawings.
• Basic understanding of electrical symbols, legends, and drawing conventions.
• Familiarity with lighting layouts, power layouts, switch and socket layouts, and electrical equipment arrangements.
• Basic knowledge of cable routing, cable tray layouts, and electrical containment systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, architectural plans, and reflected ceiling plans.
• Understanding of dimensions, annotations, drawing references, and technical documentation.
• Basic knowledge of electrical coordination with architectural, interior design, and other MEP disciplines.
• Familiarity with shop drawings, as-built drawings, and drawing revision procedures.
• Knowledge of Revit MEP will be an added advantage.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy in drafting work.
• Basic problem-solving skills and willingness to learn electrical drafting standards.
• Good communication and coordination skills to work with engineers, draftsmen, and site teams.
• Ability to follow instructions, manage assigned tasks, and meet drawing submission deadlines.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 1-4 years of relevant experience in electrical drafting, electrical design documentation, or MEP drafting.
• Freshers with basic AutoCAD knowledge and an interest in electrical drafting may also apply.
• Basic hands-on experience in preparing or modifying electrical drawings will be preferred.
• Familiarity with lighting layouts, power layouts, electrical symbols, and cable tray drawings is desirable.
• Knowledge of Revit MEP, BIM modelling, and MEP coordination will be an added advantage.
• Internship or training experience in electrical drafting or construction projects will be preferred.
• Ability to work under the guidance of senior engineers and draftsmen while maintaining drawing accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
