Electrical Engineer - Automation

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Automation Electrical Engineer works cross functionally across multiple departments and entities to maintain existing products and to develop new products as a result of evolving customer and industry needs and company strategic objectives. Their skills and knowledge are essential for designing, building, and maintaining the electrical systems that power automated equipment and systems.

Job Duties:

• Support and complete medium to high-level complex electrical engineering tasks/projects to meet business objectives.
• Develop and support new and existing electrical designs (including PLC/HMI programs) for commercial and industrial bakery equipment.
• Capture corrections on electrical wiring diagrams and schematics, update Bills of Materials (BOMs) and process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
• Troubleshoot electrical problems in sub-assemblies and final assemblies as needed.
• Layout electrical panels and cabinets, external wiring for industrial systems.
• Maintain designs to relevant standards (UL, ETL, CE). Be the company’s UL508A authority.
• Provide before and after sales support to key stakeholders such as technical service, manufacturing, and purchasing.
• Conduct quality checks of drawings, schematics and documents, verifying accuracy of data and information.
• Perform testing of alternate vendor components to validate suitability for direct substitution to stay ahead of the curve with respect to electrical products facing obsolescence.
• Research, evaluate and recommend new technologies and vendors.
• Perform other tasks as required.

Necessary Skills:

• Strong understanding of the principles of automation, including machine control, sensor technology, and data acquisition
• Strong electrical aptitude
• Strong focus on eliminating electrical safety hazards
• UL508A familiarity and ability to pass UL508A training exam
• Industrial automation/electrical engineering design experience (Control Systems, Solid State Circuitry, VFD drives and related communication devices)
• Ability to develop electrical schematics for domestic and international markets
• Intermediate skill with AutoCAD Electrical
• Diagnostic ability of industrial controls such as analog 4-20mA or 0-10V instrumentation, digital 120/240VAC, 24VDC sensor type devices and 240-480VAC 3-phase motors.
• Experience with hands-on troubleshooting and problem solving. Ability to resolve electrical issues without detailed direction

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering / Mechatronics Engineering / Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent professional experience

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

• Travel (up to 5%) – shows, expos and customer visits
• In-Person, Full Time In Plant Office

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
