Electrical Engineer

Key Responsibilities - FEED

§  Establish the Electrical Design Basis, power-system philosophy, voltage levels, redundancy, availability targets, load categories and operating scenarios.

§  Prepare load lists, power balances, generation sizing, emergency/essential power philosophy, single-line diagrams and distribution architecture.

§  Perform or specify load flow, short-circuit, motor-starting, voltage-drop, protection coordination, arc-flash, harmonic and stability studies appropriate to project maturity.

§  Develop grounding/bonding, lightning protection, UPS/DC, lighting, small power, navigation aids, cathodic-protection interfaces and electrical heat-tracing philosophies.

§  Define hazardous area electrical requirements and coordinate equipment certification, ingress protection, temperature class and environmental qualification.

§  Specify generators, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, variable-speed drives, UPS/battery systems, cables, busways and electrical packages.

§  Provide cable-sizing criteria, preliminary routes, cable schedules, equipment layouts, room requirements, heat loads, weights and interfaces.

§  Support reliability, maintainability, energy efficiency, black-start, load-shedding and power-management-system studies.

Key Responsibilities - EPCI, Construction and Commissioning

§  Review detailed electrical calculations, SLDs, schematics, layouts, cable schedules, termination drawings, protection settings and vendor documents.

§  Review package electrical systems and interfaces, including motors, heaters, local panels, earthing, controls and Ex certification.

§  Conduct technical bid evaluations, vendor clarifications, inspections and FAT/SAT witnessing for major electrical equipment.

§  Verify cable routing, segregation, supports, penetration/fire-seal interfaces, installation details, grounding continuity and preservation requirements.

§  Manage technical queries and deviations; assess their effect on fault levels, selectivity, voltage performance, safety and maintainability.

§  Support energization readiness, insulation/continuity testing, relay injection, motor solo runs, load shedding, black start and integrated power-system testing.

§  Confirm final settings, as-built drawings, equipment data, test records, spares, operating manuals and handover dossiers.
