The role involves service sizing, feeder design, code compliance, and collaboration on building services while working remotely with occasional travel.

Client Details

Our client is a growing and well-established design-build construction firm with a strong reputation for delivering complex construction projects across Canada. Known for delivering practical, cost-effective building services solutions, the firm offers engineers significant project ownership, direct exposure to decision-makers, and the flexibility of a remote-first work environment.

Description

  • Design and coordinate electrical systems for multi-residential, condominium, apartment, and mixed-use residential developments in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Perform building electrical service size calculations and prepare supporting documentation using industry-standard load calculation methodologies and software.
  • Design feeder and distribution systems, including conductor and equipment sizing, while applying relevant requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
  • Prepare electrical drawings, specifications, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and design reports for permit and construction purposes.
  • Review and apply code requirements for B2 and B3 building classifications.
  • Ensure electrical designs comply with CSA Z32 Essential Electrical Systems requirements where applicable.
  • Incorporate National Energy Code of Canada (NECB) 2020 requirements into electrical building designs.
  • Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, developers, contractors, and utility providers throughout project delivery.
  • Conduct site reviews and respond to construction-phase requests for information (RFIs), shop drawings, and field issues.
  • Provide professional engineering review and sealing of design documents in accordance with provincial regulatory requirements.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously in a collaborative, fast-paced design-build environment.

  • Proven experience designing electrical systems for condominium, apartment, and other multi-residential building projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical service calculations, feeder sizing, power distribution systems, lighting, emergency power, and life-safety systems.
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), including service calculations, conductor sizing, and distribution design requirements.
  • Familiarity with CSA Z32 Essential Electrical Systems and the National Energy Code of Canada (NECB) 2020.
  • Experience with B2 and B3 occupancy classifications and related building code considerations.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and common electrical design and load calculation software.
  • Strong communication and project coordination skills with the ability to work directly with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated professional who thrives in a small-team environment and can manage projects with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within Canada.
