Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support our Australian client with the electrical design and drafting of overhead cranes, hoists, and industrial material handling systems.

The role focuses on developing practical electrical control systems, schematics, and technical documentation for industrial equipment. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with hardwired control circuits, relay and contactor logic, and electrical drafting, along with a strong understanding of relevant engineering and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Design & Drafting

• Design and prepare electrical schematics for overhead cranes, jib cranes, monorails, hoists, winches, and related industrial equipment.
• Develop motor control circuits including Direct-On-Line (DOL), Star-Delta, and Variable Speed Drive (VSD) applications.
• Design hardwired control circuits using contactors and relay-based logic.
• Develop electrical safety circuits incorporating emergency stops, limit switches, overload protection, and other safety devices.
• Prepare control panel layouts and electrical fit-out drawings.
• Produce General Arrangement (GA) drawings, cable schedules, terminal diagrams, and other electrical documentation.

Engineering & Project Support

• Work with structural and mechanical engineering teams to integrate electrical systems into equipment designs.
• Review technical requirements and contribute to practical design solutions.
• Prepare electrical documentation and compliance drawings for project requirements.
• Coordinate with Australian engineers and other stakeholders to clarify technical specifications.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation throughout the design process.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3–5+ years of experience in industrial electrical design or a similar engineering environment.
• Experience designing hardwired electrical control circuits using relays and contactors.
• Strong ability to read, interpret, and develop electrical control schematics.
• Experience with AutoCAD 2D for electrical drafting.
• Knowledge of motor control systems, including DOL, Star-Delta, and VSD applications.
• Experience with industrial equipment such as overhead cranes, hoists, conveyors, elevators, escalators, or other material handling systems is highly desirable.
• Experience working with Australian engineering or safety requirements is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage technical documentation accurately.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills.
