What they need
Electrical Engineer | Brisbane This Brisbane manufacturer makes its own graphene from natural gas using a proprietary process.
As production scales up, they need an electrical engineer to own the electrical systems that run it.
You’ll look after the electrical side of the production plant, R&D equipment and site, including high-power and electrically driven process equipment.
Some days involve fault-finding on the plant floor, and others involve designing the supply for a capacity upgrade or a new R&D project.
The role is site-based and works closely with process, production, maintenance and R&D teams, as well as contractors and suppliers.
What you’ll do
- Design, specify and review electrical systems, including power distribution, motor control and high-power equipment
- Prepare and check load, cable sizing, fault level and protection calculations
- Produce and maintain single-line diagrams, schematics and cable schedules
- Plan electrical capacity for production scale-up and new equipment
- Take electrical scope from concept through procurement, installation and commissioning
- Coordinate electrical contractors and hold them to the site’s safety and quality standards
- Ensure compliance with AS/NZS 3000, hazardous area requirements and Queensland electrical safety legislation
- Support production and maintenance with fault-finding and root cause analysis
What you’ll bring
- A degree in Electrical or Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- At least five years of experience in process plant, manufacturing, industrial or resources environments
- Electrical design capability across power distribution, motor control, protection and cable sizing
- Hands-on installation, testing, commissioning and fault-finding experience
- Experience coordinating electrical contractors and suppliers
Hazardous area experience (AS/NZS 60079, EEHA) is highly regarded, as is exposure to high-power or power electronic equipment such as microwave, RF, VSDs or industrial heating. PLC and controls experience, RPEQ registration or eligibility, and an electrical trade background would also be valued.
The team is lean and growing, and you’ll often work on equipment you haven’t seen before.
This role suits someone who is curious about new technology, practical on site and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
This is a permanent, full-time role based on site in Brisbane.
