About the Company
An early-stage, venture-backed space infrastructure startup operating at the intersection of AI compute, aerospace, and renewable energy. Backed by top-tier venture capital funds (including a16z), the company's mission is to bypass Earth’s severe power grid and cooling constraints by building compute-native orbital satellites designed to execute large-scale AI inference directly in space.
The culture is engineering-led, hands-on, and first-principles oriented. Operating with high velocity and low ego, the team takes direct technical ownership of hardware slated for orbit on near-term launch schedules.
The Role
Seeking the company’s first dedicated Electrical & Computer Engineer (open to all experience levels from high-potential graduates to 10+ year veterans).
In this role, the immediate 90-day objective will be to own, design, and bring up the primary flight computer for the company's inaugural satellite mission. Long-term, this engineer will architect high-speed GPU compute payloads and partner directly with global tier-1 ODMs to scale AI compute infrastructure in orbit.
Key Responsibilities
- Flight Computer Ownership: Lead 0-to-1 schematic capture, PCB layout, and bring-up for the primary satellite flight computer.
- High-Speed Compute Design: Architect GPU compute electronics, high-speed interconnects (NVLink, SerDes), and evaluate emerging silicon photonics.
- Hands-On Bring-Up & Debug: Execute board bring-up, signal/power integrity analysis, and functional debugging in the Los Angeles lab alongside executive technical leadership.
- ODM Collaboration: Work directly with leading hardware manufacturing partners and ODMs to engineer custom compute platforms.
- Firmware & Software Integration: Write low-level firmware and platform software (Embedded C/C++, Linux, Python) to bring up and validate satellite payloads.
Key Qualifications
- Experience Range: 0 to 15+ years of experience in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or avionics design.
- Core EE Fundamentals: Proficiency in high-speed PCB layout, schematic capture, board bring-up, and signal/power integrity.
- Hardware & Compute Familiarity: Hands-on exposure to embedded systems, flight computers, GPUs, or high-speed data interconnects.
- Software Skills: Practical experience writing embedded C/C++, Linux platform code, or Python scripts for hardware testing.
- Work Authorization: Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
Preferred / Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with NVIDIA hardware platforms, NVLink, SerDes, or high-density server architecture.
- Prior work in aerospace, satellites, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or high-performance hardware startups.
- Familiarity with silicon photonics or high-speed optical interfaces.
