About the job
Position: Electrical Engineer / Electrical Designer — Power & Controls
Work Arrangement: Remote, preferred in NV, MN, CO, NC, SC
Employment Type: Salaried, Full-Time
Overview:
We are seeking Electrical Engineers and Electrical Designers with experience in power distribution, controls, and automation. Our client is a young but stable company (never gone through layoffs) providing technical support for a diverse range of engineering projects related to municipal and industrial operations and safety, working with water, wastewater, and industrial clients across the full project lifecycle - from design through to commissioning and field support. The team supports individuals who want to work toward their PE down the line and offers genuine flexibility to grow in whatever direction fits within power distribution, controls, or automation.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop EI&C (Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls) design packages for water, wastewater, and industrial clients.
- Conduct power system studies and the EI&C portion of P&IDs.
- Design PLC/HMI architectures and programming.
- Configure SCADA systems.
- Produce logic diagrams, control narratives (sequence of operations), and wiring diagrams.
- Create and maintain instrument indexes.
- Develop control panel designs, power studies, EI&C site plans, schematics, and single-line diagrams, including load calculations.
- Select and specify instruments and control valves.
- Interpret and apply relevant codes, job procedures, standards, and specifications.
- Collaborate with other design disciplines across the full project lifecycle, from design through commissioning and field support.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Experience in water treatment, oil and gas, or another industrial process/fluids-related space.
- Experience with PLC programming or power distribution.
- For Engineer-level candidates: PE certification is a plus but not required — candidates without a PE should have experience with SKM, ETAP, Easy Power, or ARC Flash analysis.
- Strong understanding of network layout and I/O diagrams.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Revit.
- PLC and HMI programming experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to solve problems on the spot.
