What they need

Senior Electrical Engineer (Medical Infrastructure)

We are seeking a visionary Senior Electrical Engineer to spearhead the electrical design and distribution strategy for our upcoming world-class bio- medical facility located south west of Chicago. This role is not just about keeping the lights on; it's about engineering the life-sustaining backbone of a premier healthcare institution.

You will be the primary technical authority responsible for the end-to-end electrical lifecycle-from high-voltage utility integration to the millisecond precision of isolated power systems in surgical suites.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead Electrical Design: Oversee the comprehensive design of all electrical systems, ensuring they meet the stringent reliability and safety requirements of a Tier 1 medical facility.
  • Power Distribution: Design and manage complex distribution networks, including substations, switchgear, and transformers, ensuring 100% uptime for critical care environments.
  • Emergency & Redundancy Systems: Implement robust backup solutions, including N+1 or 2N redundancy, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), and emergency generator synchronization.
  • Specialized Medical Systems: Direct the design of specialized healthcare electrical needs, such as isolated power systems (IPS) for operating rooms, MRI/Imaging shielding, and lightning protection.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs strictly adhere to healthcare-specific codes (e.g., NFPA 99, NEC Article 517, and local building mandates).
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the technical bridge between architects, clinical staff, utility providers, and construction contractors to ensure design intent is realized in the build.
