Electrical Engineer for Solar

Key responsibilities

1. Design and develop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including system layout, component selection, and performance modelling
2. Conduct electrical calculations and simulations to ensure optimal system performance, safety, and compliance with relevant standards
3. Prepare detailed electrical design documentation, including single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and technical specifications
4. Oversee the installation and commissioning of solar energy systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards
5. Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance to identify and resolve electrical issues
6. Ensure all designs and installations comply with local electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry standards
7. Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and clients to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions
8. Stay current with emerging solar technologies and best practices in the renewable energy sector
9. Provide technical support and guidance to installation teams and junior engineers

What we're looking for

1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional qualification
2. Possess a Registered Electrical Engineer certificate (PRC ID must be valid).
3. Minimum 1-3 years of professional experience in electrical engineering with a focus on solar energy systems or renewable energy projects
4. Strong knowledge of photovoltaic (PV) system design, inverters, battery storage systems, and electrical grid integration
5. Proficiency with electrical design software and simulation tools relevant to solar systems
6. Comprehensive understanding of electrical codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to solar installations
7. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex technical challenges and develop practical solutions
8. Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively document designs and collaborate with stakeholders
9. Project management experience and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
