What they need
About This Role:
Our client is looking for an Electrical Engineer with 2 to 7 years of experience to own board-level bring-up, debug, and integration for a well-funded, MIT-originated hardware startup unlocking a previously unused piece of the electromagnetic spectrum.
The team is one of a small handful of organizations in the world doing this work: roughly $20 million raised from top-tier investors, five government contracts including a major Department of Defense award, and working units already deployed with paying customers today. About 15 people, growing quickly, still small enough that this hire owns their piece of the product end to end.
What will you be doing?
- Own board-level bring-up, power sequencing validation, and subsystem integration across roughly six active board designs
- Debug and root-cause signal integrity, power, and RF issues, then drive fast design iterations to fix them
- Work with an outside design firm on schematic reviews and updates, owning the full loop from a new board revision through fabrication, assembly, and validation
- Work cross-functionally with the FPGA, firmware, and mechanical teams to validate at the subsystem and system level
- Help build out the test procedures and traceability the company needs as it scales toward higher production volume
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering
- Hands-on mixed-signal design experience: ADCs and DACs, DC/DC converters, RF interfaces
- Real board-level bring-up, debug, and integration experience using Altium or a comparable PCB CAD tool, not design work handed off to someone else to bring up
- Comfortable reviewing schematics and layouts, and independently running down a problem without being told where to look
- Nice to have, not required: telecom, radar, or complex sensing systems background; experience at a fast-moving hardware startup; FPGA bring-up experience (Petalinux, AMD Kria SOM or similar), bring-up specifically, not RTL design
Role Details
- Salary: $160K to $180K, plus equity
- On-site: 5 days a week in Santa Clara, CA, hard requirement
- Full-time position, Santa Clara, CA
- Visa: open to visa transfers (OPT, H1B)
- Tech stack: Altium, mixed-signal design, PCB design, RF, FPGA bring-up (Petalinux, AMD Kria SOM), oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers
This is a hands-on seat at an early-stage company: real ownership, real pace, and the intensity that comes with both.
Pay: $160,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- 401(k)
Work Location: In person
