Electrical Engineer Intern

We are looking for motivated Electrical or Electronics Engineering interns to join our Technical Sales Operations Team. This internship provides hands-on exposure to residential battery and solar assessments, allowing interns to gain practical experience in site reviews, roof design, and technical sales support.

Working closely with experienced engineers, interns will assist in evaluating customer sites for battery installations, designing customer-ready solar arrays in accordance with industry standards, including AS/NZS 5139 and AS/NZS 5033, and supporting the sales team with technical guidance.

This internship is ideal for students seeking real-world experience in renewable energy engineering and standards-based technical design.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Site review — assess whether a customer's site can safely take a battery: switchboard space and phase (1P/2P/3P), battery location clearances, cable runs, rebate details and travel factors, all to AS/NZS 5139:2019.
• Roof design — design customer-ready solar arrays in GreenSketch following AS/NZS 5033:2021 and VoltX design rules (MPPT/string logic, setbacks, efficient DC runs).
• Sales technical support — back up the sales team on technical customers via call take-overs, technical emails, and questions over Microsoft Teams or in person.

Qualifications

• Studying towards, or a recent graduate of, BS Electrical Engineering (BS EE) or BS Electronics Engineering (BS ECE).
• Comfortable with technical detail, datasheets and basic electrical concepts (1P/3P, inverters, PV).
• Accurate and detail-oriented — in this work, small mistakes are costly.
• Clear communicator in English, both written and spoken; reliable and takes initiative.
• No professional licence is required — both students and unlicensed graduates are welcome to apply.
