Electrical Engineer (Main Contractor, HV, 40-55K)

Key Duties

1. Prepare and review HV electrical design packages, including single-line diagrams, layout drawings, cable routing, earthing, protection and equipment schedules for substations, switchgear and power export/import systems.
2. Carry out load studies, short-circuit, voltage drop, cable sizing and protection coordination calculations for HV/MV systems in accordance with project specifications and relevant codes.
3. Coordinate HV interfaces with the power company, consultants, other E&M disciplines and civil/structural teams, including grid connection, transformer, switchroom and cable corridor requirements.
4. Review vendor drawings, technical submissions, method statements and as-built information for HV equipment such as transformers, generators and protection relays.
5. Support construction, testing and commissioning by answering RFIs, attending technical meetings, witnessing FAT/SAT where required, and resolving site design issues.

Requirements

1. Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
2. Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in HV/MV electrical design for infrastructure, industrial, power or large E&M projects; experience at 11 kV and above is essential, 132 kV preferred.
3. Solid knowledge of Hong Kong electricity regulations, EMSD CoP, and HV substation / power distribution design practice.
4. Hands-on experience with design tools such as AutoCAD / Revit and power system software (e.g. ETAP, SKM, Amtech or equivalent).
5. Ability to review protection schemes, interfacing with utility companies, and coordinate multi-discipline design under tight programme.
6. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; strong communication, documentation and teamwork skills. Candidates with both design office and site experience will be preferred.
