Electrical Engineer (Solar PV and BESS)

About the role

Unified Energy Services is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer – Solar PV & BESS to join our growing renewable energy team in South Melbourne. In this full-time role, you will play a key part in the design and delivery of commercial and residential solar PV and battery energy storage projects. You will work across system design, grid connections, technical support and project delivery, working closely with our Operations, Project and Sales teams, installers, suppliers and network providers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and review Solar PV and BESS systems, including SLDs, layouts and technical documentation
• Support DNSP and grid connection applications and requirements
• Provide technical input to project, installation and sales teams
• Support pre-sales technical enquiries, system sizing and solution selection
• Review inverter, battery, switchboard and electrical requirements
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across design and project delivery
• Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, SAA requirements and network requirements

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 3–4 years' relevant Solar PV and/or BESS experience in Australia
• Current SAA Grid Connected PV Design and/or Battery Storage Design accreditation preferred
• Strong knowledge of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 5033, AS/NZS 4777 and AS/NZS 5139
• Experience designing Solar PV and battery storage systems
• Experience with AutoCAD and solar design software
• Good understanding of Australian DNSP grid connection requirements
• Strong technical, problem-solving and communication skills
