Electrical Engineer – Start-Up & Fault Diagnosis | Mind Stream

Mind Stream is looking for an Electrical Engineer to deliver start-up and early-operation electrical engineering support on a live industrial plant. The role centres on rapid fault diagnosis and the safe restoration of electrical equipment and systems across motors, switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, UPS, and protection/control systems.

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot electrical trips and failures on motors, MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, motor starters, transformers, VFDs, and UPS/DC systems

• Interpret SLDs, schematics, control diagrams, protection drawings, and vendor manuals to support diagnosis

• Establish safe isolation and LOTO before any intervention; determine and execute required diagnostic tests

• Identify required spares and specialist tools to support repairs and minor modifications

• Support energisation and re-energisation of equipment and verify correct operation post-intervention

• Coordinate with Mechanical, Instrument, Operations, and OEM/vendor specialists; maintain technical fault and intervention records

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

• Hands-on experience with motors, MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, and UPS systems

• Working knowledge of protection and control systems

• Commissioning or start-up experience on hazardous area live plants

• Oil and gas, LNG, refinery, or petrochemical plant experience

Experience: 8+ years

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

Location: Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar

Contract duration: 60 days, extendable
