Electrical Engineering (Pre Trade Electrician) Tutor

Lifeskills is a well-established private training organisation; operating in NZ since 1991. We are seeking 2 electricians to join our team as part time tutors. This would work well as a second job or may suit someone wanting to move into part time hours. Both roles would teach 3 evenings a week from 5.30-8.30pm. We are also open to one fulltime person taking 2 classes, where you would teach 4 evenings and a Saturday. The roles are based at our Henderson Campus in Auckland.

You will be supporting adult learners to gain the cores skills needed to meet the requirements to achieve the NZ Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Pre Trade) Level 3, prior to undertaking an apprenticeship. Passion for the industry is needed, in addition to impeccable organisational skills to ensure that all the compliance and administrative functions of your job are completed to a high standard.

We are looking for someone with:

• A minimum of 2 years practical industry experience in the electrical industry, with at least 1 year of experience at a supervisory, team leader or sole operator level
• A National Certificate in Electrical Engineering – Electrician for Registration (Level 4), or National Certificate in Electricity Supply – Electrician (Level 4), or New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Engineering Theory and Practice (Trade) Level 4.
• Current registration as an Electrician
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Passion and energy for teaching and training others
• Unit Standard 4098, and the NZ Certificate in Adult Education and Training (level 4 or 5) (or be willing to complete these courses)
• Full Class 1 NZ Drivers licence
• Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident or hold a current NZ work permit.
