Electrical Engineering Team Lead

Salas O'Brien is seeking an Electrical Engineering Team Lead/ Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing Atlanta, GA office. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong engineer who has served as an Engineer of Record for electrical projects and is interested in developing themselves into a leadership role.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in electrical systems design, accountability for project delivery, and experience leading project teams. While prior direct people-management experience is not required, this role offers the opportunity to mentor engineers and designers, contribute to team growth, and progressively assume management responsibilities as the practice expands.

Our Atlanta office specializes in a wide range of building-related projects, including commercial mixed-use developments, higher education, retail, restaurants, senior living facilities, institutions and other commercial buildings.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as Engineer of Record for electrical engineering projects
• Lead the design and delivery of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, telecommunications, and security systems
• Oversee projects from conceptual design through construction administration
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, specifications, and construction documents
• Coordinate with architects, owners, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure technical excellence and code compliance
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
• Contribute to the continued growth and development of the Atlanta electrical engineering team

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• 10+ years of experience designing electrical building systems
• Demonstrated experience serving as Engineer of Record for commercial, healthcare, higher education, government, mixed-use, or institutional projects
• Proven ability to lead projects and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
• Strong working knowledge of NEC, IECC, and applicable building codes
• Proficiency with REVIT and electrical design software
• Excellent communication, client-facing, and organizational skills
• Interest in developing into an engineering management and team leadership role
• Self-starter with strong technical judgment and problem-solving abilities
