HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company hire an Electrical Engineering Technician to build and maintain the physical infrastructure used to validate automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs), autonomy hardware, and related systems.

In this role, you’ll design and build wiring harnesses, rack and wire server infrastructure, and assemble Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test benches. With guidance from design engineers, you’ll own harness builds from design through validation while also supporting the organization, inventory, equipment, and day-to-day operation of the lab.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on and highly organized electrical technician with strong wiring harness, rack integration, and hardware troubleshooting experience. You’re comfortable translating engineering documentation into reliable physical builds, working independently in a lab environment, and maintaining the tools, components, and documentation needed to keep testing operations running efficiently.

As An Electrical Engineering Technician, You'll

  • Design, build, and validate wiring harnesses for HIL test benches and rack builds, including pinouts, connector and wire selection, termination, and electrical testing.
  • Install and wire compute nodes, network switches, power units, and related test assets while maintaining organized and clearly labeled power and data cabling.
  • Manage day-to-day lab operations, including build kitting, parts and consumables inventory, asset tracking, tool calibration, workspace organization, and ESD and electrical safety practices.
  • Diagnose hardware faults and partner with Test and Validation Engineers to reproduce and troubleshoot issues, escalating complex failures with clear findings.
  • Maintain accurate build documentation, including pinout tables, BOMs, wiring diagrams, rack elevations, revision histories, and known issues.

Requirements

  • An associate’s degree or vocational/technical certification in electronics, electromechanical technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in a lab, bench technician, data center hardware, or similar environment
  • Demonstrated wiring harness design and build experience, including reading and creating wiring diagrams and pinout tables, selecting connectors and wire gauges, and crimping and terminating automotive-grade connectors
  • Experience with connector systems such as Molex, Amphenol, Rosenberger, or similar, including backshell assembly and strain relief
  • Experience independently racking and cabling servers and network equipment from rack elevation drawings, including structured cabling, cable management, and power distribution
  • Experience maintaining a lab, test floor, or hardware stockroom, including kitting builds, managing parts and consumable inventory, and keeping shared workspaces organized
  • Proficiency with hand tools, torque tools, crimpers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC electrical safety and ESD handling practices
  • Ability to lift and move rack equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with automotive ECUs, embedded systems, or Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test benches
  • Board-level SMT rework experience down to 0402, occasionally 0201, and BGA rework
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification or equivalent training in wiring harness workmanship standards
  • Experience with harness design or CAD tools, including SolidWorks, 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX), CATIA, or related PLM systems
  • Familiarity with the Linux command line for basic host verification, including ping, SSH, and service status checks
  • Basic Python or Bash scripting experience for running bring-up or test scripts

Benefits

  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (Eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: *This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.*
