Electrical Estimator

About the role

Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations for electrical projects by meeting customers brief, analysing specifications, materials, and labour requirements to support the sales and project delivery process.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse project specifications, drawings, and technical documentation to determine scope and requirements.
• Calculate material quantities, labour hours, and associated costs for electrical installations and projects.
• Prepare detailed quotations and estimates for clients in a timely manner.
• Liaise with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing on materials and equipment.
• Review estimates for accuracy and ensure compliance with company standards and pricing policies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of material costs, labour rates, and industry pricing trends.
• Communicate with project managers and sales teams to clarify project requirements and refine estimates.
• Track estimate conversion rates and provide feedback to support continuous improvement.
• Maintain organised records of estimates, quotations, and historical cost data.
• Support the tendering process by preparing documentation and cost breakdowns as required.

About you

• Proven experience as an estimator, preferably within the electrical industry.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and installation practices.
• Proficiency with estimating software (Simpro) and Google applications.
• Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and meet deadlines.
• Relevant trade qualifications or certifications in electrical work are desirable.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations and industry standards.
