What they need
Metric is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator – Industrial Field Services to support inside sales, field service operations, project development, and customer proposal efforts. This role is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and complete estimates for industrial electrical projects, including field service work, overhead and underground powerlines, temporary construction power, power distribution, equipment installations, shutdowns, maintenance, troubleshooting, and system upgrades.
The ideal candidate understands industrial electrical construction methods, field labor requirements, electrical materials, utility coordination, site conditions, customer expectations, and project risk. This person will work closely with sales, engineering, project management, field supervision, procurement, safety, customers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure estimates are technically sound, commercially competitive, and executable in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating and Proposal Development
Review customer requests, drawings, specifications, single-line diagrams, scopes of work, addenda, site information, and other bid documents.
Prepare detailed estimates for industrial electrical field services, maintenance, shutdowns, upgrades, emergency response, construction support, and system improvement projects.
Perform accurate material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and vendor takeoffs.
Develop pricing for industrial electrical installation and maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, overhead and underground powerlines, primary and secondary distribution, temporary power systems, transformers, switchgear, panels, motor control centers, disconnects, conduit, cable, terminations, grounding, and related electrical systems.
Prepare professional proposals, quote summaries, scope clarifications, exclusions, assumptions, alternates, and supporting estimate documentation. Technical and Operational Coordination
Coordinate with sales, project managers, field supervisors, engineers, procurement, safety, vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers to confirm technical requirements and execution assumptions.
Evaluate site conditions, field productivity, outage windows, equipment needs, travel
requirements, utility coordination, material lead times, and customer-driven constraints.
Identify incomplete scope, constructability concerns, schedule conflicts, project risks, and potential change-order exposure before proposals are finalized.
Support estimate reviews and project handoff meetings so awarded work is communicated
clearly, accurately, and completely to operations. Safety, Quality, and Compliance
Incorporate known safety requirements, training needs, site access requirements, customer documentation, testing requirements, and compliance considerations into estimate assumptions.
Coordinate with operations and safety leadership to identify project-specific hazards, controls, access constraints, and planning requirements before work begins
