Electrical Estimator

We're on the lookout for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join RapidQS on a contract basis, supporting our growing workload across New Zealand.

Ideally, we're looking for someone with hands-on experience in the electrical trade who understands how electrical contractors actually price and deliver projects.

As we continue to grow, we're looking to expand our electrical estimating capability and bring an experienced contractor into the team.

About the Role

We're looking for an Electrical Estimator with practical experience in the New Zealand electrical industry, ideally someone who has worked as an electrician, electrical estimator or within an electrical contracting business.

You'll be responsible for preparing accurate electrical take-offs, labour allowances and detailed estimates across residential and commercial projects.

This role will start on a contract basis, with work allocated based on project demand. It could progress into a more permanent role for the right candidate. Work hours will range from 5-10/week initially and will be flexible as long as deadlines are met.

Responsibilities

• Completing electrical quantity take-offs from construction drawings and specifications
• Preparing detailed electrical estimates, including materials, labour and subcontractor costs
• Pricing electrical installations across residential and commercial projects
• Assessing labour requirements, installation methods and project complexities
• Preparing bills of quantities (BOQs) and tender documentation
• Reviewing electrical drawings, specifications and scope of works
• Liaising with clients to clarify project requirements
• Pricing variations and additional works
• Producing accurate estimates within agreed timeframes

Qualifications / Experience

• Minimum 2 years' experience in electrical estimating or electrical contracting
• A background as a qualified electrician or hands-on electrical trade experience is highly advantageous
• Strong understanding of NZ electrical installation methods, materials and labour requirements
• Experience estimating residential and/or commercial electrical projects
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications and schedules
• Experience using electrical estimating or take-off software is highly regarded
• Knowledge of NZ electrical suppliers, materials and current market rates
• Strong numeracy, Excel and computer skills
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and communicate clearly
