Electrical Estimator/Project Manager

Job Summary

Mill City Electric Co. is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator/Project Manager to lead the planning, estimating, and execution of small residential to large-scale commercial electrical projects. This role combines technical expertise with strong project management skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all electrical codes and safety standards. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating leadership, precision, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and comprehensive construction estimates.
• Oversee the entire project lifecycle from initial bidding through design review, permitting phase involvement, procurement, construction scheduling, and closeout.
• Review construction drawings, schematics, and blueprints to ensure electrical system design integrity and compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70 standards.
• Manage project budgets by tracking costs, reviewing contracts, and implementing cost control measures to maximize profitability.
• Lead project team members in electrical blueprint reading, system design review, and construction management activities on-site and in the office.
• Ensure all electrical work adheres to local electrical building codes, permits requirements, and safety regulations including NFPA 70 compliance.
• Facilitate communication between clients, contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Conduct construction site visits for progress monitoring, quality assurance, safety inspections, and schedule coordination.
• Manage project contracts by reviewing scope of work, change orders, and ensuring contractual obligations are met efficiently.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on electrical projects; familiarity residential and commercial electrical systems is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles including system design, schematics interpretation, and blueprint reading.
• Skilled in construction scheduling, cost management, and project coordination to meet deadlines and budgets effectively.
• Deep understanding of NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 standards, electrical building codes, and permitting processes.
• Experience managing large-scale electrical projects from inception through completion; ability to lead teams effectively on-site and remotely.
• Excellent communication skills for clear documentation, contract negotiations, and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Construction site experience including safety oversight and quality control measures is highly desirable.
