Electrical Harness Engineer

Location: Stevenage - Hybrid

Akkodis is recruiting an Electrical Harness Engineer to support spacecraft programmes, taking ownership of the harness architecture that connects electrical equipment and systems.

This role combines technical design, supplier coordination and integration support, ensuring harness solutions meet mission requirements and are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality.

The Role

You will oversee the Spacecraft Harness work package from requirements definition through design, manufacture and integration. Working closely with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will define system-level requirements and guide subcontractors responsible for detailed harness design and manufacture.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate customer and mission requirements into harness specifications.
• Define functional and physical wiring, including link lists, cable definitions and pin-to-pin connections.
• Prepare and review electrical block diagrams and wiring diagrams.
• Specify power, voltage and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to define harness layouts and cable routing.
• Conduct or coordinate voltage-drop calculations, cable and connector derating assessments, and mass estimates.
• Coordinate suppliers, review technical deliverables and support manufacturing activities.
• Support spacecraft electrical integration and testing, resolving harness-related issues.
• Maintain technical documentation and contribute to research, development and standardisation activities.

Required Skills and Experience

• Extensive experience in spacecraft harness design.
• Proficiency with modern harness design tools.
• Experience defining electrical interfaces, wiring requirements and technical documentation.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, including collaboration with international teams.
• Ability to work under pressure with strong attention to detail.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Fluency in English.

Desirable

• Experience leading technical work packages or managing engineering projects.
• Hands-on experience in system-level electrical interface engineering.
• Negotiation-level proficiency in French, German or Spanish.
