Electrical Industry Trainer

Future Energy Skills | Clayton, Victoria

Use your electrical industry experience to help prepare the next generation of licensed electrical workers.

As an Energy Safe Victoria approved assessment organisation, Future Energy Skills (FES) has a long-standing role in supporting Victoria’s electrical industry through the growth and development of aspiring electrical workers. Through our training and assessment services, we prioritise sharing our industry leading knowledge and skills to help aspiring licensed electrical workers build the knowledge, skills and confidence required to progress in their careers.

As demand for our services grows, we are looking for an experienced electrical professional to join our supportive training team.

The role

As an Electrical Industry Trainer, you will prepare and deliver practical, high-quality training to electrical workers preparing for licensing assessments and further industry development.

You will be supported by established FES course resources and an experienced training team, while bringing your own industry knowledge and practical experience to the classroom.

Key responsibilities

·       Deliver FES licensing assessment tuition refresher courses, including Licensed Electrical Theory (LET), Licensed Electrical Practical (LEP) and Safe Working Practices (SWP) with opportunities to contribute to other FES training courses as the role develops.

·       Deliver engaging training that encourages participation and supports candidates with different levels of knowledge, experience and confidence.

·       Explain electrical theory, testing, regulations and practical concepts clearly.

·       Prepare effectively for scheduled training sessions

About you

You may already be the person others turn to for guidance, someone who makes technical concepts easier to understand, or a patient mentor who enjoys helping apprentices and colleagues develop. The right person will be approachable, adaptable and able to communicate clearly with people who have different levels of knowledge, experience and confidence.

Support

FES places a high priority on supporting new trainers. You will undertake a structured induction and progress through observation, shared delivery and independent delivery, with ongoing mentoring, feedback and professional support at each stage.

Your development plan and progression will be agreed with your manager and tailored to your previous experience, confidence and readiness**.**

·       Good organisation and time management

·       A collaborative approach and willingness to keep learning.

Highly regarded

·       Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or a relevant trainer skill set.

·       Experience in technical training, TAFE, RTO, apprenticeship supervision or adult education.

·       Knowledge of Victorian electrical licensing requirements and current industry practices.

·       Previous experience delivering or preparing candidates for licensed Electrical Assessments.

What FES offers

·       A permanent full-time position based at the FES industry training centre in Clayton,

·       Six weeks annual leave plus leave loading.

·       RDOs and weekend penalty rates where applicable.

·       Significant employer superannuation contributions.

·       Structured guidance, mentoring and ongoing support from an experienced team of trainers and educators.

·       Assistance to obtain or update training and assessment qualifications where required.
