Working at South Shields Marine School is a truly unique experience. Our staff are deeply committed to supporting our students and to the continued success and development of the school itself. As the oldest Marine School in the world, we take great pride in our heritage and share a collective ambition to see the school continue to grow and thrive. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dedicated and passionate team, helping to educate and inspire future marine officers while playing a role in shaping the future of the Merchant Navy.
The school benefits from world-class training facilities, with a new state-of-the-art building currently under development and scheduled for completion in 2027. We would be delighted to welcome prospective candidates for a tour of our facilities.
In addition to the generous annual leave entitlement, the role offers an excellent work-life balance, with a 37-hour working week, Monday to Friday which is a significant contrast to life at sea.
If you would like an informal chat about the role, please contact Chris Gray, Head of School at or on 0191 427 3500 (ext.3920).
Please note that we do not accept CVs. All applications must be submitted via the college website using the official online application form.
