What they need
Electrical Power Commissioning Technician / Engineer
📍 Temple, TX | Full-time | 100% on-site | Start: October 2026
We're building a commissioning team from the ground up.
SII Group USA is assembling a field team for a large-scale, mission-critical project in Central Texas, working for one of the biggest names in energy and automation. This is a ground-floor opportunity. You'll join early, work on serious infrastructure, and help set the standard for how the team operates.
If you like being in the field, making systems come alive, and fixing what doesn't work, read on.
What you'll do
- Commission, start up, and troubleshoot electrical power and control systems
- Program, test, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLC controls: I/O checkout, logic verification, interlocks, sequences
- Configure and test SEL protection relays , including secondary-injection testing (Omicron, Megger, or equivalent)
- Commission MV/LV switchgear, breakers, control panels, and transformers
- Verify trip circuits, protection logic, and breaker controls
- Troubleshoot HMI/SCADA and communications between PLCs, relays, and field devices
- Support FAT, SAT, energization, and turnover
- Work from one-lines, schematics, and I/O lists, and coordinate directly with customers, vendors, and contractors
What you bring
The role comes down to three things: Commissioning + Allen-Bradley PLCs + SEL Relays. Strength in one is enough, and both is ideal.
PLC / Controls: Allen-Bradley
- ControlLogix / CompactLogix
- Online troubleshooting, logic modifications, I/O checkout, industrial networking
Protection Relays: SEL
- Relay configuration and settings
- Protection and control logic
- Secondary injection and trip-path verification
- Omicron CMC356, Megger, or equivalent test equipment
Background: Electrical Engineering, EE Technology, Power Systems, Controls/Automation, or equivalent hands-on field experience. Junior to senior profiles considered.
Strong plus
FactoryTalk HMI/SCADA · IEC 61850 / GOOSE · EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, DNP3 · ATO and ZSI schemes · load shedding · generator controls and synchronization · arc-flash protection · UPS / emergency power · data center or mission-critical experience · OSHA 10/30 · NFPA 70E · NETA / NICET
Why this role
- Real hands-on work: no desk job, you're testing, troubleshooting, and energizing
- No data center background required: Allen-Bradley PLC pros can move into power systems, and SEL relay pros can broaden into controls. We'll help you get there.
- A team being built now: early joiners get the most visibility and influence
- Mission-critical scope: the systems you commission will matter
