Electrical Pre-Construction Manager - Design & Build

This is a unique and rare opportunity for the right person. You would learn and own the entire front-end lifecycle for critical infrastructure projects. We operate an inhouse Design & Build (D&B) model delivering high end industrial electrical solutions. You will not be waiting around for external consultants or chasing unworkable designs. Instead, you will lead the pre-construction strategy from a blank canvas to an engineered reality.

Sitting directly within our integrated design and engineering team, you will work closely with the Design Manager and Business Development Manager. You would control the conceptual estimating, and design coordination for high-stakes projects. These could include data centres, manufacturing facilities, council water projects and crucial infrastructure projects where absolute resilience is required.

Your Impact

• Lead the front-end strategy for multi-million-dollar electrical bids from initial concept to final client handover.
• Partner with internal design engineers to ensure schematic designs align perfectly with commercial targets, constructability, and AS/NZS 3000 standards.
• De-risk critical paths by identifying long-lead equipment requirements (e.g., generators, ups systems, critical power trains, heavy switchgear) and securing advanced vendor agreements.
• Present sophisticated, cost-optimised Design & Build proposals to our new and existing client bases
• Build, mentor, and scale our internal estimating and pre-construction division

What You Bring

• Proven track record in electrical pre-construction, estimating, or design management within a Design & Build or ECI environment.
• Deep commercial acumen—you know how to price risk and opportunity from a high-level conceptual brief, not just a completed take-off.
• A strong technical understanding of critical systems, such as AC power distribution, standby power generation, and complex control systems.
• Strong leadership skills to act as the vital bridge between design engineers, site estimators, and corporate clients.
• An ability to quickly absorb and interpret technical, commercial, customer information, to identify the project requirements.
