What they need

Position Summary

The Mechanical & Electrical Project Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, cooling, fire protection, and related building services scopes during the construction of IREN’s next-generation, renewable-powered data center infrastructure. The role ensures that MEP works are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes, quality standards, commissioning requirements, and the operational needs of high-performance compute environments.

This role contributes to the successful delivery of IREN’s Spain data center projects by managing multidisciplinary MEP interfaces, supervising contractors and consultants, coordinating design clarifications and field execution, supporting procurement and cost control, overseeing testing and commissioning readiness, and ensuring that mechanical and electrical systems are delivered with the reliability, scalability, energy efficiency, and safety required for mission-critical AI and high-performance computing facilities.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the DC Senior Project Manager, Mechanical & Electrical Project Manager is responsible for:

  • Lead the execution of MEP construction scopes by coordinating mechanical, electrical, plumbing, cooling, fire protection, controls, and associated infrastructure works to ensure safe, timely, high-quality delivery of data center facilities.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces between design, construction, procurement, commissioning, operations, contractors, consultants, utilities, and vendors by aligning technical requirements, sequencing, access, and handover needs to avoid conflicts and support integrated project delivery.
  • Review MEP drawings, specifications, method statements, material submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and technical documentation by verifying constructability, compliance, and alignment with IREN’s performance, reliability, safety, and sustainability requirements.
  • Supervise contractors and site teams by monitoring progress, productivity, quality, safety performance, resource allocation, installation standards, and adherence to approved schedules and execution plans to drive effective field delivery.
  • Manage construction-phase risks, issues, changes, and technical deviations by identifying impacts on cost, schedule, safety, quality, commissioning, and operations, and by supporting timely decision making and mitigation actions.
  • Support procurement and contract administration for MEP packages by contributing to scope definition, technical evaluations, vendor coordination, delivery follow-up, variation assessment, and cost control to ensure equipment and services meet project requirements.
  • Oversee inspection, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning readiness, and handover activities by coordinating quality records, punch lists, system walkdowns, performance verification, and documentation to enable reliable operation of mission-critical systems.
  • Promote continuous improvement, collaboration, and compliance across MEP construction activities by sharing lessons learned, strengthening site processes, supporting reporting routines, and ensuring alignment with IREN’s responsible, sustainable, and high-performance infrastructure standards.

Requirements

  • At least 8–10 years of experience in MEP construction management, preferably within data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial infrastructure, energy projects, or large-scale commercial construction.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline; relevant professional certifications in project management, safety, commissioning, or MEP systems are well regarded.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems for data centers or high-performance facilities, including power distribution, generators/UPS, HVAC, cooling systems, liquid cooling infrastructure, plumbing, fire protection, BMS/controls, and commissioning processes.
  • Solid understanding of construction-phase delivery, including contractor management, site coordination, method statements, inspection and test plans, quality control, HSE requirements, change management, schedule control, and handover documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, equipment submittals, commissioning documents, and construction schedules, with strong attention to constructability, interfaces, reliability, and operational readiness.
  • Familiarity with relevant building codes, electrical and mechanical standards, safety regulations, data center design practices, energy efficiency principles, and industry guidance applicable to mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Proactive, structured, hands-on, and results-driven profile, with strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, planning, negotiation, and decision-making skills, and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced, multidisciplinary construction environments.

Compensation

  • Compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and market data for the region.
  • Total Compensation package may be inclusive of annual incentive bonus, and equity (long-term incentive)

Health & Wellness

  • Medical, dental and insurance coverage.
  • Wellhub: access to gyms, fitness classes and wellness services.
  • Pluxee: flexible benefits for meals, transportation and childcare expenses.
