Electrical Project Manager -- Commercial Projects
Location: Farmington, CT
Schedule: Full-Time
Who We Are
McPhee Electric LLC is a leading electrical contractor delivering complex, high-value electrical infrastructure projects throughout New England and beyond. Our work includes large commercial builds, mission-critical data centers, industrial facilities, and fast-paced, schedule-driven electrical scopes where performance matters.
We operate with a clear focus on Quality, Safety, and Productivity (QSP). At McPhee Electric LLC,
Project Managers are not paper-pushers. They are owners of outcomes, leaders of teams, and drivers of execution.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead competitive commercial and hyperscale electrical projects from award through closeout. This role is designed for contractor-side
Project Managers who understand electrical work at scale and are comfortable operating both in the office and on active jobsites.
You will manage multiple projects simultaneously, own project performance, and serve as the primary point of accountability for scope, schedule, cost, and client satisfaction.
This is not a general construction Project Manager role. Direct electrical contracting experience is required.
What You'll Do
Own full project lifecycle execution for commercial and hyperscale electrical projects, from preconstruction handoff through final closeout.
Serve as the primary client contact, maintaining strong relationships with owners, general
contractors, and key stakeholders.
Participate in estimate handoff and transition meetings to fully understand scope, risk, and project strategy.
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, work plans, and cost forecasts aligned with field execution.
Manage procurement of major materials and equipment, including long-lead items.
Direct subcontractors and internal field teams to ensure safe, productive, and high-quality installation.
Manage all project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, and closeout packages.
Accurately track job costs, labor productivity, and cash flow while proactively addressing
variances.
Lead internal and external project meetings and drive accountability for deliverables.
Partner closely with Operations, Safety, Estimating, and Accounting teams to ensure
seamless project execution.
Support commissioning, turnover, and final cost reconciliation efforts.
Apply lessons learned and continuously improve project execution processes.
What You'll Bring
5+ years of experience in electrical contracting with direct Project Manager responsibility.
Proven experience managing commercial electrical projects; hyperscale or mission-critical project experience strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of electrical systems, drawings, specifications, and construction means and methods.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client
relationships.
Experience processing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contract documentation.
Comfort working both in an office environment and on active construction sites.
Strong leadership presence, communication skills, and decision-making ability.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with construction management and
scheduling software preferred.
- High level of integrity, organization, and accountability.
What We Offer
Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
401(k) with company match.
Paid time off and paid holidays.
Long-term career development within a growing electrical contractor.
A performance-driven culture grounded in Quality, Safety, and Productivity.
Work Environment
This position is based in Farmington, CT and requires a combination of office-based project management and active jobsite involvement. The Project Manager will work closely with field
leadership, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. This role may require travel to project sites throughout New England as needed to support operations and project execution.
