The role requires a practical manager who can control programme, design, labour, subcontractors, procurement and commercial performance across several live projects, while maintaining clear communication with clients, consultants and main contractors.

Key responsibilities

Project and commercial delivery

  • Take ownership of projects from contract award through to final account.
  • Prepare and maintain project programmes, procurement trackers, cost forecasts and weekly progress reports.

  • Identify delays, scope gaps, risks, variations and commercial issues early and drive actions to closure.
  • Manage valuations, variations, subcontract orders, applications and final accounts.

Design management

  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work and the electrical deliverables, approvals and responsibilities at each relevant stage.

  • Ensure information is compliant, coordinated, buildable, maintainable and issued in line with programme and procurement requirements.

Procurement and site delivery

  • Identify long-lead items and ensure approved information is available before orders are placed or work starts.
  • Monitor quotations, technical approvals, manufacturing information, deliveries and supplier performance.
  • Lead site managers, supervisors, operatives and subcontractors, setting clear short-term targets.
  • Carry out site inspections covering safety, quality, progress and coordination.
  • Manage testing, commissioning, certification, snagging, O&M information and defect close-out.

Client and team management

  • Act as HUTTie’s main point of contact for assigned electrical projects.
  • Chair project, design, procurement and progress meetings as required.
  • Provide clear written follow-up with defined actions, owners and dates.
  • Work closely with estimating, commercial, design, procurement, accounts and operations colleagues.

Essential requirements

  • Proven experience delivering commercial electrical projects from pre-construction through to handover.
  • Strong practical knowledge of LV distribution, containment, power, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm, security, access control, CCTV, data and mechanical plant supplies.
  • Good working knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work, particularly Stage 3 coordination and Stage 4 technical design.
  • Proven ability to manage electrical design, including programmes, responsibility matrices, coordinated drawings, calculations, submissions, approvals, RFIs and change control.
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience managing labour, supervisors and subcontractors.
  • Clear communication, sound judgement, strong organisation and a full UK driving licence.

Preferred qualifications

  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • ECS Black Card or ECS Manager Card.
  • SMSTS and First Aid at Work.
  • HNC or HND in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
