Electrical Service Technician

Hi-Tech Electric is looking for an experienced Commercial Service Technician to join our New Orleans service department. This is a full-time, hourly position serving commercial customers throughout the Greater New Orleans area.

This position requires a dependable journeyman electrician with strong commercial troubleshooting skills who can evaluate electrical problems, communicate professionally with customers, complete service work safely with limited supervision, and lead small service projects when assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Strong knowledge of the tools, testing equipment, materials, and methods used in commercial electrical work
• Ability to diagnose and repair electrical problems independently
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, local requirements, and accepted safety practices
• Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial electrical systems and equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot high- and low-voltage electrical systems
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, one-line diagrams, schematics, panel schedules, and documentation equipment
• Ability to safely use meters and other electrical testing equipment
• Ability to plan, organize, and lead small commercial service projects
• Ability to coordinate labor, materials, and daily work activities
• Strong verbal and written communication and professional customer service skills
• Clean, organized, and professional workmanship
• Comfortable using a company phone or tablet to receive work orders, record job information, and submit reports
• Ability to properly document labor, materials, job conditions, and completed work
• Dependable and capable of completing assigned service calls without constant supervision.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of six years of electrical experience
• Commercial electrical service and troubleshooting experience
• Experience with commercial electrical installations, repairs, and renovations
• Ability to read electrical drawings and specifications
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, and other trades
• Ability to follow company safety procedures and applicable electrical codes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• OSHA 10 certification
• Current Journeyman Electrician License
• Completed electrical apprenticeship or recognized electrical training program
• Experience troubleshooting three-phase electrical systems, motors, controls, panels, lighting, generators, and related equipment
• Previous experience leading small service jobs or directing helpers and apprentices
• Mini Excavator operator experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to distinguish colors used for electrical conductors and identification
• Ability to stand, kneel, bend, climb, reach, and work in different positions for extended periods
• Ability to safely climb and work from ladders or approved elevated work platforms
• Ability to pull conductors and cables through raceways
• Ability to lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in typical South Louisiana weather conditions
