About Us
The Siebold Company Inc. is a licensed professional mechanical and electrical installation contractor, conducting “full service” installations on projects and programs throughout the USA. Full Service indicates the company’s expertise to install both mechanically and electrically as well as coordinating and project managing the tasks of engineering, fabrication, programmable logic and control wiring. The company’s growth strategy is bolstered by a strong financial base, led by an experienced leadership team, and executed by a dedicated workforce.
Material Handling / Automation / Conveyor Systems
The Siebold Company is seeking an experienced Industrial Electrical Superintendent to supervise and support electrical installations for large-scale material handling and automation projects throughout the United States. Projects may include distribution centers, fulfillment centers, postal facilities, and automated warehouse operations, including facilities similar to Amazon and USPS installations.
This is a traveling, field-based position requiring strong electrical knowledge, leadership ability, and hands-on experience with industrial electrical and automated material handling systems.
This may be a working Superintendent position. Depending on project size, schedule, manpower, and field conditions, the Superintendent may be expected to work alongside the electrical crew and perform hands-on electrical installation, troubleshooting, modifications, and startup activities in addition to supervisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and provide direction to electricians, foremen, apprentices, and electrical subcontractors.
- Plan daily and weekly electrical installation activities to meet project schedules and milestones.
- Perform hands-on electrical work when necessary to support the crew, maintain schedule, troubleshoot problems, or complete critical installations.
- Oversee installation of conduit, cable tray, wire and cable, power distribution equipment, disconnects, control panels, motors, VFDs, sensors, photo eyes, field devices, and related equipment.
- Coordinate electrical installation of conveyor, sortation, automated material handling, and controls systems.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, schematics, panel drawings, control drawings, specifications, and installation details.
- Coordinate electrical activities with mechanical installation teams, controls engineers, commissioning personnel, general contractors, customers, and other trades.
- Identify and resolve field conflicts, installation issues, drawing discrepancies, and electrical problems.
- Monitor manpower, productivity, materials, tools, equipment, and project progress.
- Ensure installations meet project specifications, applicable electrical codes, quality standards, and customer requirements.
- Enforce company and site-specific safety policies, including OSHA and NFPA 70E requirements.
- Participate in equipment startup, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, punch-list completion, and final system turnover.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, manpower records, progress updates, material requirements, and other project documentation.
- Communicate project status, schedule concerns, manpower requirements, and field issues to Project Management.
- Travel to project locations throughout the United States for extended periods as required.
Qualifications & Required Experience
- 5+ years of industrial electrical experience, preferably involving material handling, conveyor, automation, distribution, manufacturing, or similar industrial systems.
- Previous experience as an Electrical Superintendent, General Foreman, Electrical Foreman, or Lead Electrician on industrial projects.
- Strong working knowledge of industrial electrical installations and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Experience with conveyor and material handling electrical systems strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of motors, VFDs, control panels, PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, photo eyes, safety circuits, and industrial control wiring.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, one-lines, panel layouts, and installation drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise electrical crews while maintaining productivity, workmanship, and safety standards.
- Must be comfortable performing hands-on electrical work when project needs require it.
- Strong troubleshooting and field problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with project managers, engineers, controls personnel, mechanical crews, subcontractors, customers, and other trades.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and work effectively in fast-paced construction and commissioning environments.
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- NFPA 70E training preferred.
- Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent electrical training/experience preferred where applicable.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively.
- Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, nights, or alternative shifts when required by project schedules, shutdowns, or commissioning activities.
Travel Requirements
This position requires extensive nationwide travel and may involve assignments lasting several weeks or months at a project location. Candidates must be comfortable working in active construction, distribution, fulfillment, warehouse, and industrial environments.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on electrical leader who can effectively manage a crew while also stepping into the work when necessary. This individual should be equally comfortable coordinating manpower and schedules, working with project management and customers, troubleshooting electrical and controls-related issues, and assisting electricians in the field to keep the project moving.
Experience with high-speed conveyor, sortation, automated material handling, distribution/fulfillment centers, or postal automation systems is highly desirable.
