Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on Electrical Supervisor with deep
technical expertise in solar systems and overall electrical infrastructure. The
ideal candidate will lead the installation, commissioning, operation,
maintenance, and troubleshooting of solar power systems while ensuring the
safe, reliable, and efficient performance of the entire electrical network.
This role requires strong diagnostic ability to identify, control, and resolve
electrical issues across solar and conventional power systems.
Key Responsibilities
Solar
System Management (Core Focus)
- Supervise the design review, installation, testing, and commissioning of solar PV systems, including rooftop, ground-mounted, and hybrid configurations.
- Oversee the complete solar value chain: PV modules, string/central inverters, DC/AC combiners, charge controllers, battery energy storage systems (BESS), mounting structures, and cabling.
- Perform and supervise detailed system performance analysis — monitoring specific yield, performance ratio (PR), soiling losses, inverter efficiency, and degradation rates.
- Diagnose and rectify complex faults in solar systems, including PID (Potential Induced Degradation), ground faults, arc faults, insulation resistance failures, MPPT tracking issues, and communication failures with SCADA/monitoring platforms.
- Manage grid-tied, off-grid, and hybrid solar installations, ensuring proper synchronization, anti-islanding protection, and compliance with utility interconnection standards.
- Optimize system output through string configuration reviews, shading analysis, and thermal imaging inspections.
- Ensure proper earthing, lightning protection, and surge protection systems for solar installations.
Overall Electrical Supervision & Control
- Take full ownership of site electrical systems — power distribution boards, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS, generators, and low/medium voltage networks.
- Conduct routine and breakdown inspections to identify and control electrical issues (overloads, short circuits, voltage fluctuations, harmonic distortions, phase imbalances, insulation failures, etc.).
- Implement and enforce preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all electrical assets.
- Lead root-cause analysis of electrical failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure strict compliance with electrical safety standards, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures, arc-flash protection, and permit-to-work systems.
- Supervise electrical load calculations, cable sizing, protection coordination studies, and power quality assessments.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams during installation, upgrades, and expansions.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, as-built drawings, single-line diagrams, test reports, and maintenance records.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 5–8 years of progressive experience in electrical supervision, with at least 3 years focused on solar PV systems (installation, O&M, or commissioning).
- Strong practical knowledge of:
- Solar PV system design, installation standards (IEC 61215, IEC 61730, IEC 62446, etc.)
- Inverter technologies (string, central, hybrid), battery systems (lithium-ion, lead-acid), and energy management systems
- Protection relays, switchgear, transformers, and power distribution systems
- Power quality analysis, thermography, insulation resistance testing, and earth resistance measurement
- Proven ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Hands-on experience with electrical testing instruments (multimeter, insulation tester, earth tester, power quality analyzer, thermal camera, etc.).
- Strong leadership, team supervision, and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of local electrical codes, safety regulations, and grid interconnection requirements.
- Willingness to work on-site and respond to emergency breakdowns.
