Electrical Technician

Electrical Technician - Durban based

Reports to – Electrical Technical Manager

Purpose: The role provides technical support to our industrial customers by assisting the Electrical Technical Team with power quality, metering, energy measurement and electrical reliability solutions. The role involves conducting site assessments, analysing electrical data, supporting the installation and commissioning of equipment, and delivering accurate technical assistance that helps provide effective customer solutions and supports the growth of the company's technical product offering.

Responsibilities and duties

• Assist with conducting portable power recordings with PQ boxes at clients and consulting engineers

• Analysis of power quality data with detailed reporting

• Work closely with Technical Team to implement requirements of Power Factor Correction

• Installation of electrical equipment into existing Distribution Boards

• Technically assist, support and offer PQ boxes, PQ Smart and LVR to clients

• Conduct site audits when necessary

• Work with Technical Team to drive metering offering

• Develop strong product understanding of our metering offering

• Assist to prepare budge estimates, quotations, assist with compilation of tenders

• Provide commissioning support when needed

• Keep and manage Tools Register for all Magnet Tools

• Operate equipment in a safe manner when utilising it on site and ensure equipment is always accessible and well maintained

• Transformers
• MV and LV reticulation and distribution
• MCC’s and Electrical Panels
• Generators
• Automation including motor control (VSD’s, soft starters etc.)
• Smart Metering
• Energy Management
• SCADA/PLC systems
• Power Quality including power factor correction

Qualification and Experience

Must have a National Diploma or N6 with trade test (red seal). Wireman’s license is an advantage.

Minimum experience of 3 - 5 years in the Electrical field. Must have experience with industrial customers.

Must live in Durban.
