Electrical Technician

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Technician with a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in industrial electrical systems and automation. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in LT Electrical Systems, Switchgear & Protection Systems, MCCs, Drives, PLC/SCADA, and Instrumentation, ensuring reliable operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex electrical and control systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. LT Electrical Systems

• Supervise and maintain all Low Tension (415V/230V) electrical distribution systems including panels, feeders, sub-distribution boards, and busways.
• Monitor load balancing, cable sizing compliance, and power factor across LT networks.
• Coordinate scheduled and corrective maintenance of LT systems in accordance with PPM plans.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, and testing of new LT circuits, cable trays, and terminations.

2. Switchgear & Protection Systems

• Operate, inspect, and maintain LT/HV switchgear including ACBs, MCCBs, VCBs, and SF6 circuit breakers.
• Perform and supervise relay testing, protection coordination studies, and overcurrent/earth fault trip setting verification.
• Ensure correct functioning of interlock schemes, bus-coupler logic, and automatic changeover systems (ATS/AMF).
• Maintain switchgear maintenance records including IR testing, contact resistance, and insulation resistance logs.

3. Motor Control Centers (MCCs) & Drives

• Supervise operation and maintenance of Motor Control Centers for pumps, fans, compressors, AHUs, and process equipment.
• Oversee installation, programming, and troubleshooting of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and soft starters.
• Coordinate motor rewinding, bearing replacement, insulation testing, and restarting procedures.
• Manage DOL, star-delta, and VFD starter configurations as per equipment requirements.

4. Control Systems & PLC/SCADA

• Supervise operation, maintenance, and fault diagnosis of PLC-based control systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider).
• Review and maintain PLC logic programs, HMI screens, and control panel schematics.
• Coordinate with automation engineers for SCADA integration, remote I/O, and fieldbus communication (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
• Ensure control system integrity, version control of programs, and backup of PLCs and HMIs.

5. Instrumentation

• Oversee calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of process instrumentation including pressure transmitters, flow meters, temperature sensors (RTD/TC), level switches, and analytical instruments.
• Ensure instrument loop calibration certificates are maintained with traceability to national standards.
• Supervise loop testing, functional acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), and instrument commissioning for new projects.
• Manage instrument spares inventory and ensure critical spares availability.

REQUIREMENTS:

• DAE Electrical, B. Tech.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in relevant field.
• Strong problem solving and ability to perform root cause analysis.
• Excellent communication skills.
