What they need
Overview
Ergo Lifting Technologies (ELT) designs and manufactures custom lifting and material-handling equipment. We are seeking a skilled, mechanically inclined Electrical Technician to join our growing team in Wilson, NC.
The ideal candidate has experience wiring industrial machinery, assembling electrical control systems, troubleshooting electrical components, and working with low-voltage DC circuits.
This position involves hands-on electrical assembly, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of custom-built equipment. Because we design and manufacture our machines in-house, the work varies from project to project and requires strong problem-solving skills.
Pay and Benefits
The starting pay is $25 per hour, with a range of $25 to $35 per hour. We offer a competitive benefits package.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with industrial equipment wiring, electrical assembly, or mobile equipment electrical systems
- Strong understanding of 12V and 24V DC electrical systems
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Experience building and wiring electrical control panels, junction boxes, and machine control systems
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits using multimeters and other diagnostic equipment
- Experience installing and wiring sensors, switches, relays, solenoids, and electrical actuators
- Knowledge of wire sizing, circuit protection, grounding, and electrical safety practices
- Experience with electrical connectors, terminal crimping, soldering, and wire harness fabrication
- Ability to route, secure, and protect wiring on industrial machinery
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand tools and power tools
- Ability to work independently, diagnose problems, and develop practical solutions
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to clean, professional-quality electrical work
Preferred Qualifications
The following experience is highly desirable but not required:
- Experience with PLCs or programmable machine controllers
- Familiarity with Parker IQAN control systems
- Understanding of CAN bus communication, including CANopen and J1939
- Experience with proportional hydraulic valves, solenoid valves, and electrohydraulic control systems
- Experience with wireless remote-control systems for industrial machinery
- Experience installing and troubleshooting pressure transducers, proximity sensors, and linear position sensors
- Familiarity with machine safety circuits, emergency stops, and interlock systems
- Ability to create or modify electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Experience with electrical CAD software
- Background in heavy equipment, agricultural machinery, construction equipment, automation, or custom machinery manufacturing
Primary Responsibilities
- Wire and assemble electrical systems for new equipment builds
- Fabricate custom wire harnesses and install electrical components
- Install and connect machine controllers, sensors, switches, valves, and operator controls
- Troubleshoot electrical issues during machine assembly and testing
- Assist with electrical system design and component selection
- Work alongside mechanical engineers and fabricators to integrate electrical systems into custom equipment
- Perform electrical testing and verify proper machine operation
- Maintain organized wiring, accurate labeling, and quality workmanship
- Assist with documenting electrical systems and updating wiring diagrams
- Identify opportunities to improve electrical system reliability, serviceability, and manufacturing efficiency
What We Are Looking For
We value practical experience, mechanical ability, and problem-solving skills over formal credentials alone.
The right candidate takes pride in their workmanship, understands how machinery operates, and is comfortable working on equipment that may differ from anything they have wired before.
Experience with industrial machinery and low-voltage control systems is more relevant to this position than traditional residential or commercial electrical installation experience.
Candidates with backgrounds in heavy equipment electrical repair, industrial maintenance, machine building, or automation are encouraged to apply.
