Electrical Technician (Lab & Equipment Maintenance)

Position Summary
We are looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Electrical Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and laboratory equipment at our laboratory facility. The ideal candidate will ensure uninterrupted power supply and safe, reliable operation of all electrical infrastructure, minimize downtime and carry out preventive maintenance to extend equipment life.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation & Commissioning: Install and connect distribution boards, wiring, sockets, lighting, UPS, stabilizers and new laboratory equipment.
• Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair electrical faults in lab equipment (incubators, centrifuges, autoclaves, ovens, water baths, fume hoods, refrigerators/freezers, etc.) and in power systems.
• Preventive Maintenance (PM): Conduct routine inspections of panels, breakers, cables, earthing, UPS/batteries, generators and ATS; test safety devices; replace worn or faulty components.
• Power & Backup Systems: Monitor and maintain generator, UPS and stabilizers to ensure continuous power to critical lab equipment.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow electrical safety standards, LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures and use PPE. Ensure proper earthing and load balancing.
• HVAC/Cooling Support: Provide basic electrical support to AC units and cooling systems (starters, contactors, controls, thermostats).
• Documentation: Maintain logs of maintenance, repairs, parts used and equipment readings.
• Emergency Response: Respond promptly to power failures and breakdowns, including after-hours when required.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Matric/Intermediate with DAE Electrical or a recognized technical/trade certification (Electrician/Electrical Technician).
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in electrical maintenance (laboratory, hospital, industrial or commercial setup preferred).
• Technical Skills:
• Strong knowledge of single-phase and three-phase systems, electrical schematics and panel wiring
• Proficiency with multimeter, clamp meter, insulation tester (megger) and earth tester
• Experience with UPS, stabilizers, generators/ATS, MCB/MCCB and motor controls
• Basic knowledge of PLC/control systems is a plus
• Soft Skills: Problem-solving, attention to safety, good communication, ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Pay: Rs50,000.00 - Rs70,000.00 per month
